Public engagement is critical to the success of the ReCodify Cashiers project.  County staff and the consulting team are devoted to making sure that anyone who wishes to be involved and share input or feedback on the project may do so at numerous points throughout the process.

This webpage is established as a conduit of information about the project, includes draft work products, status updates, and many other elements designed to keep folks informed about our progress.  This webpage will be maintained and updated throughout the course of the project.

Another central part of project engagement is the Cashiers Community Planning Council who will be meeting at least six times throughout the course of the project to consider draft work products and provide initial reactions to project concepts. All Council meetings are open to the public and the Chair will likely make time available at meetings for any in attendance to ask questions or provide comments.

ReCodify Cashiers also includes five public forums at key points in the project, such as the Policy Guidance Workshop, the Community Character Workshop, review of the  Annotated Outline, and two reviews of the draft district standards.  All public meetings will take place in Cashiers.

Most of the consulting team trips to Cashiers include “office hours” where members of the consulting team will be on hand in Cashiers and available to meet with anyone who schedules an appointment.  Office hours can also be used for short presentations or discussion sessions with community groups.  Typically office hours are available on the afternoon of the second day of a trip and the morning of the third day of a trip.  Persons seeking to schedule an appointment should contact the County Planning staff.  Meeting times are scheduled on a first come, first served basis, though the consulting team will be happy to make video conference time available if available meeting slots during a particular trip are filled.  Video conference appointments must also be scheduled with County staff.

Each draft work product produced for the project will be posted under the Documents tab along with associated presentations and summary trip notes in under the Project Status tab.

The adoption process includes at least three public meetings or hearings for interested individuals to attend and share input on the proposed regulations with the Planning Council, the County Planning Board, or the Board of County Commissioners.

There are numerous opportunities for interested parties to participate over the week of May 8 to May 12 while County staff and the consulting team are in Cashiers to explore and document Cashier's community character. The table below provides a quick agenda of activities and chances to get involved or ask questions during the week:

If you have questions or would like to get more information on how to participate, please provide your question and email in the space below and a member of County staff will get back to you with more details.
